Money Gone in UnionBank Philippines P725K

On 27 and 28 February 2023, UnionBank Philippines had maintenance. Me and my friend cannot log in to our UB bank account.

After the days of maintenance, I can access my UB banking app again on my phone. But, found out, All my Money Gone in UnionBank Philippines. The total amount of P 725,000. I made a report to UnionBank Philippines. And they reply saying they are not responsible for the money lost in my account. Within my account, that total amount of P725,000 is not only my personal money. It is also some money from UB QuickLoan. UnionBank Philippines said to me, they will not be able to bring my personal money back into my account, but I still need to pay the loan. Weird things happened I didn't know the UB Quick Loan money will be deposited on the day during the maintenance. I can't access my UB account during those days of maintenance. And when the maintenance was finished, I found out many unauthorized transactions had been made from my UB account. Transferring all of my personal money and the quick loan money when I can't access my UB account during the maintenance. And then UnionBank Philippines said they are not responsible for the lost of money?

UnionBank Ask People To Trust Their Money in Their Banking System

UnionBank ask people to trust their money in their banking system but when the user's money goes from their system without user acknowledgment, UnionBank claim they are not responsible for the loss. I went to the UnionBank branch office. Asking to print the details of transactions, to where the money has been transferred without OTP or other notifications. And customer service said they can't give me the details of the transactions as it's their privacy policy. I'm the account owner. I have the right to know the details of the money in my bank account. So what privacy policy prohibits me from knowing the details of what happened in my own bank account?

UnionBank ask me to trust my money in their banking system, but when this happened, UnionBank really gave me no clue and didn't show the willingness to help me find out more details. Only pushing me that I have to accept my personal money lost. Also pushing me to accept the loan money loss, but force me to keep paying for the loan that has been lost from my UB account along with my personal money. This really doesn't seem to be fair for anyone who had the same experiences.

Report To Cyber Crime Police Station in Taguig, Metro Manila

Trying to report to UnionBank didn't get any help. Gave me no choice but to try to find the details from my UB account after the maintenance. Checking one by one the transactions history that I can see from the UB App after maintenance and making a report to the Cyber Crime Police Station in Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines.

UB Account Hacked

UnionBank Philippines Customer Service Reply

After reporting to the police, I pursue to UnionBank customer service again through their customer service email. And after a long time around 45 days. More than 1 month. UnionBank Philippines reply back to my email, saying the same thing about, they reject the transactions dispute. UnionBank Philippines customer service reply:

We conducted an investigation and validation process of the disputed transactions. We regret to inform you that the bank will not be able to grant your request for a refund due to the following reasons: Based on the information we gathered, the device used in performing the fund transfer was iOS (iPhone13). This device access the account on February 18, 2023.

And so I reply back again. Can you be more specific?. All iPhone13 are using iOS. What if that is somebody else who breaches the UB security system?

  1. What is the Phone IP Address from that transaction?

  2. What is the Phone MAC address from that transaction?

  3. What is the Phone Serial Number from that transaction?

  4. What is the Phone iMEi from that transaction?

  5.

I can't even log in to the UB app on my phone. I also ask my office mate to check if they can use UB App on their phone or not. As you can see from the image above. That was a UB maintenance on Feb 27 and 28, 2023. Made myself and my friend can't log in to the UB banking app. The money is gone from my bank account without OTP, notifications. Without I'm able to login/access my UB app on my phone. How can the transaction be done by me using my iPhone13 iOS when I, can't access the UB app on my phone?

This is Obviously a Security Breach in UnionBank Philippines

This is obviously a security breach. Because I can't access the UB App on my phone. Even I ask another friend who use UB also to check their account, and same, can't access the UB banking system those days. And you telling me now that I did those transactions from my iPhone13 iOS?

What if this is something that has been done UB by the "inside job?"

Money Gone in UnionBank Philippines: UNFAIR

Because it is really unfair and burdens the consumer with the disadvantage. I can't access the UB Banking App on my phone. I had the screenshot of evidence showing the date of the chat. It's not only me who can't access the UB banking app that day. And when my personal money gone, UB said, they are not responsible for the loss?

And when it comes to the UB Quick Loan money, they just don't care about the money lost in my account, and force me to keep paying for it?

How can this be fair? Of course, I will pay the loan if the money is not lost in my bank account. The main problem is, how can the money in my personal bank account just disappear without any OTP, without any notifications after maintenance?

Furthermore, I didn't even know during the maintenance day of UnionBank Philippines, they will also deposit the Loan money. I can't access the UB banking app. And when the UB maintenance is done, the loan money suddenly already finish transferred to another bank account?

I really disappointed with the UnionBank Philippines banking system and with how they treat their customer. Is this really the quality of the Banking system in the Philippines?

What if this tragedy happens to you or your family?
